Competition Closed- Sunshine Painted Chest of Drawers

Updated: Mar 16, 2021

Hi all! Goodness, I am very excited about this project. When Crown reached out to me asking if I would like to do a collaboration and run a competition giving away one of my pieces I was so so flattered. I have always wanted to give away one of my pieces but haven't had the resources to make it happen. So this was pretty massive to me. Anyways enough of all the mush, let me show you my piece!

I really wanted to do something I haven't done before. That's something I sort of always try to do, as I get bored very easily regurgitating the same ideas. Crown Paints asked me to showcase their beautiful new MOODboards collection which was created with House and Home Magazine. When I saw the palette I knew exactly what I wanted to create. Inspired by the sunsets I've seen on my 100s of lockdown walks, I wanted to create something in line with this.

It took me a while to come up with a design with but I am delighted I took my time designing this. I have a blog post on how to design furniture if you're stuck scratching your head!

I bought this chest of drawers secondhand and it wasn't in the best shape so I was excited to see how I could transform it. It had the potential of such a beautiful piece that I had to buy it.

If you would like a closer look at how I painted this piece step by step I have linked my Youtube video below. This covers the entire process and is my most detailed video to date. I thought it would be fun to show you exactly how much effort, time and energy it takes to get a perfectly painted piece. In my video I will be showing you how to prep the piece for the perfect finish and also how to paint and add design elements to your piece. I will cover what products to use when painting furniture also.

The colours I chose for the beach were; Mustard Jar, On a Beach and Golden Cream. These colours not only complement each other beautifully but they compliment the wooden areas I chose to keep on display.
